Our Ambition
Advocates for those that are Disenfranchised and Excluded within "Hard to Reach" diverse communities
Together we want the communities to work at being part of a vibrant society with the ideas of equality, inclusion and tolerance at its heart. We try to acheve this through different services such as direct representation, advocacy, signposting, advertising and projects that have many benefits, such as social perscription (i.e getting people to socialise, with the aim of addressing general wellbeing).
Our projects allow individual's voices, to be heard and to give those often-overlooked communities a channel which empowers them and shares their thoughts in the wider society. We want to encourage cultures of competence, and a competence in culture which includes everyone, by creating a diverse society.
- To create a cohesive society, that promotes acceptance and understanding of others, through social inclusion and equal opportunities, whilst empowering and enlightening society for more equal and fairer outcomes.
- Our aim is to promote and advocate for an inclusive, cohesive and fairer society which embraces the concepts and principles of diversity, equality and tolerance. The organisation shall be a channel for dialog with society as a stakeholder by providing resources and conducting activities that promote social cohesion, inclusion, wellbeing and to influence constructive debate
- DCES strives to empower service users, to fully engage them. We believe the rhetoric and deliberations should be as transparent, inclusive and available as is legally and morally viable.
- We are challenging the status quo through understanding and sharing knowledge of universal rights and responsibilities.
The notion that those who are different or experiencing hardship are parasites, undeserving burdensome and deny the more affluent people scarce resources has to be challenged as prejudices and barriers to true equality of opportunity, service and treatment. With the right tools, skills and attitudes the excluded communities can shape the society of or in which they need to participate
About Us
DCES have high targets regarding services we would like to offer but the reality is tempered by the availability of funds and people able to deliver
-
Social Advocacy
Many people in our society are voiceless and their needs, opinions and ideas are overlooked. DCES strives to share space and give an audience to the marginalised.
-
Heritage and Culture
Our cultural identities and heritage give us the base for a fulfilled and focused life. The Sussex Heritage Network is one of our partners who shre a common aim to promote our Histories, Cultures and Heritage.
-
Fun Things
We all need the space, time and opportunities to do things that are enjoyable and make us whole.
-
Who & Where
We aim to serve all of society currently within Sussex. Our focus is to foster values that allow for equality of opportunity and access of an equal value to all. We stand firmly against any percieved injustice or discrimination based on the characteristics defined by law and beyond.
-
Training
We provide basic training on a wide scope of skills as and when possible. Our aim is to give the foundation for individuals to engage with skills and educational establishments.
-
Legal Sign-posting
As it has become more difficult to access assistance through legal and statutory agencies we strive to help in assessing need and and explore available routes to professional guidance. Legal Aid has become harder to access and the services offered through the third sector have seen huge budget cuts.
